My Why
A Letter to my Dad:
Dear Dad, for as long as I remember, I have lived and breathed art. It's just a part of who I am!
As a youngster I knew I wanted a job in the art and fashion industry.
But I got lost in the doldrums of life and I got stuck in jobs that didn't align with my creativity, you were always supportive and told me to work for what I wanted. Then sadly you passed away 🕊.
When I look back I can see how groundbreaking you were in your life.
You trained as a tailor before arriving in the UK from Jamaica in the 1960's. But for us you became a lorry driver, and sacrificed your creative genius to carve out a future for me and my siblings.
Always resourceful, using your trusty Singer sewing machine to make our uniforms and Saville row worthy trousers for yourself, friends and family.
Dad, your passing was the push I needed to focus on my art. I wanted to leave a legacy for you as well.
I'm glad your at peace now and I hope your looking down on me with pride.
Thanks for everything Dad, your loving daughter Sandra xxx
Gone but not forgotten 🖤.
