Running Tide conducted their pilot off the coast of Iceland, where they sank just over 1,000 tonnes of biomass to the ocean floor, 1,600 meters below sea level, where the carbon will be safely stored for centuries to millennia, instead of ending up in the Earth’s atmosphere.
The ocean is ⅔ of Earth’s surface.
And Running Tide uses carbon buoys that are deployed in locations far from shore where it doesn’t compete for land or coastal space. With the potential of moving gigatons of carbon per year 🌊.
